Blogging company Six Apart announced that its has acquired (micro) blogging company Pownce. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed but the fact that the Pownce service will shut down in two weeks probably means it was a [micro] transaction.
Pownce was founded by Kevin Rose (Digg), Leah Culver and Daniel Burka. It was a micro-blogging service similar to Twitter but it allowed users to share music, video and photos. Despite those advantages, Pownce’s traffic stalled while Twitter’s skyrocketed. See related data from Compete. Note to file: Less is better!
