Advertising Cost / Car in the United States

Interesting post by Peter Krasilovsky at the Local Onliner on how much the auto industry spends on advertising per car ($2,000) and the related cost for selling on ($100).

This is particularly interesting to me as we all pay this advertising cost every time we buy a car (or any other product for that matter).

i don't think the AutoTrader CEO did an apples to apples comparison but 'imagine if you will' a world were the auto dealers were able to use the web to get there per car advertsing down to $100 and they passed along that savings to the consumer in the form of a lower sticker price!
